Life is a game
that can be played well
by anyone
who knows its rules.
But what a shame,
for as we grow old
we forgot what we’ve been told.
“Assuredly, I say to you,
unless you change
and become as little children,
you will by no means
enter the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matt:18:13)
When we were children,
wasn’t life a child’s play?
We believed, we trusted,
we loved, we obeyed.
We dreamt of better tomorrow.
We fought but harbored no hatred.
We forgave.
We did not doubt ourselves.
Oftentimes fearless,
We were happy.
We lived freely.
No worries, no pains,
No greed, no guilt.
No enemy.
Oh, I could go on and on
But really there’s no reason
For I am sure you’ll reckon
From hereon:
Life is a game to be played
Not a battlefield.
Believe, hope, love.
These are the rules.
And Love is the greatest.
For when we love,
Life is sweetest.
It becomes easiest.
Everything is ordained
from Above.
For as above,
So below.
“Thy Will be done
on Earth
as it is in Heaven.”
Amen.
